Dog friendly cottage in Camber Sands: a pet friendly holiday home by the beach
Beachside Cottage is a dog friendly holiday cottage in Camber, East Sussex. Up to two dogs are welcome, the garden is enclosed, and Camber Sands beach is a short walk from the door.
Plenty of Camber Sands cottages say they are dog friendly. If you are comparing dog friendly accommodation in Camber Sands, this is exactly what you get at ours: a whole holiday home for four people and up to two dogs, an enclosed garden, a garage for wet kit, and seven miles of sandy beach a short walk away. It is a private holiday cottage located in Camber village, not a caravan or a holiday park.
Why our pet friendly holiday cottage works for dogs
- Two dogs welcome. Bring both of them.
- A fully enclosed garden. The pebbled garden below the south-facing decking is safe for dogs to potter while you have breakfast outside.
- Somewhere for wet and sandy kit. The garage takes leads, towels and buckets, and the washer dryer deals with sandy dog towels.
- The beach on foot. No car park, no gate times: walk to the dunes for the first walk of the day and again at sunset.
- A dog friendly pub in the village. The Owl welcomes dogs and is a short walk from the cottage.

Can you take dogs on Camber Sands beach?
Yes, all year, with summer zoning. From 1 October to 30 April the whole beach is open to dogs, which makes Camber one of the best winter dog walks on the south coast. From 1 May to 30 September dogs must stay out of the zoned bathing areas, the busy stretches by the main car parks; look for the round dog signs at every beach entrance and keep to the dog-friendly stretches. Keep dogs on leads in the dunes at all times, as they are a protected habitat with ground-nesting birds.
Dog friendly walks and pubs near the cottage
The golf links and estuary circular is about three miles from the village and rarely busy. The walk from Camber to Rye is about three and a half miles beside the road and river, and the 102 bus brings you back. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve welcomes dogs on leads in the signed areas. In Rye, the Mermaid Inn and the Standard Inn both welcome dogs in the bar. Our dog walks guide has every route.

Camber Sands cottages, dog friendly: what to compare
Dog friendly cottages and holiday rentals in Camber Sands vary a lot, so it is worth checking a few things before you book any of them. How many dogs are allowed, and is there a size limit? Is the garden fully enclosed, or just a yard? Is there free private parking, or will you be paying for the council car parks in the summer months and peak season? Is the beach within walking distance, and is the Wi-Fi free? At Beachside Cottage the answers are two dogs, a fully enclosed garden, a garage plus parking at the front and rear, a short walk to the beach, and free fibre Wi-Fi.
The spacious lounge and dining area open onto the decking, and the well equipped kitchen means nobody has to leave the dogs to go out for every meal. It is family-friendly too, with a travel cot, highchair and children’s books.
Out and about with dogs
Beyond the sand dunes there is the open countryside of Romney Marsh, the cobbled streets of Rye four miles away, and quieter shingle beaches along the coast. One recent guest wrote that their dogs loved the trip on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, with a stop at Dymchurch beach. Camber Sands beach itself is the main attraction, especially on a winter morning, and the coastal walks east along the coastline towards Jury’s Gap are scenic in any season.
Coming by train? Change at Ashford International for Rye, about 25 minutes away, then take the 102 bus to Camber. The cottage is a great location for four-legged friends and their people.
