Park once, walk to the beach
A garage plus parking at the front and rear. The beach car parks charge up to £30 a day in summer and lock their gates on summer weekend evenings; you will not need them.
Bring the dogs
Up to two dogs are welcome, with a fully enclosed pebbled garden and a beach that is open to dogs all year, with zoning in summer.
Ready for little ones
Travel cot, highchair and children’s books provided, an enclosed garden, and the garage for the buggy and the beach kit.
Beach, pub and shop
The sand, the village shop and The Owl pub are all within walking distance, and Rye is ten minutes away by car or on the 102 bus.
A well-equipped kitchen, the lounge and the decking beyond
The spacious, sunlit kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, with a breakfast table and comfy chairs, oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and a combined washer dryer (handy for wetsuits, dog towels and sandy clothes). Cook a proper breakfast before the beach, or bring back fish from Rye for supper.
Through to the lounge: plush seating, fast fibre Wi-Fi (50+ Mbps) and a Smart TV you can sign into with your own Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or BBC iPlayer account, plus a DVD/Blu-ray player and Chromecast. Seascape artwork and a timber dining table give it a relaxed coastal feel, and French windows open straight onto the south-facing decking area. A cloakroom with WC sits downstairs too.
Two bedrooms and a family bathroom
The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms, and both bedrooms have a super-king zip-and-link bed that can be split into two singles. You choose the sleeping arrangement for your stay: two super-kings for two couples, four singles for children or friends, or one of each for a family. The rooms have fresh linen, nautical-inspired furnishings against whitewashed walls, and clock radios with smartphone charging.
They share a family bathroom with an overhead shower, walk-in bath, WC and basin. Bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are included, along with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, hoover and dishwasher tablets.
South-facing decking, an enclosed garden and a garage
Step out onto the decking area with outdoor seating, a parasol and a barbecue for suppers outside in the warmer months. Below it, a pebbled garden with rattan sofas is fully enclosed and safe for both dogs and children.
A garage at the rear takes the car, or the buggy, bikes and boards if you would rather leave the car outside, and there is further parking at the front and rear. Please note that electric vehicle charging is not permitted at the property. If you drive an EV, find the nearest public charging point before you arrive.

Who our Camber Sands cottage suits
Families with young children. The travel cot, highchair and children’s books are already here, the garden is enclosed, and the garage keeps the buggy and beach kit out of the hall. Couples and small groups of friends. With a super-king in each bedroom, two couples get a proper double each, and friends can split the beds into singles. Rye’s charming cobbled streets, pubs and restaurants are ten minutes away, and the winter beach at dawn is often yours alone.

There are plenty of holiday cottages in Camber Sands, and they vary a lot. When you compare Camber Sands cottages, check how many bedrooms there really are and how the beds can be arranged, whether the garden is enclosed, where you will park in summer, how far the walk from Camber Sands beach is, and whether dogs are welcome. It is not a beachfront house, so there is no direct beach access, but you will not need the car to get to the sand.
Location: a short walk from Camber Sands beach
The cottage is in Camber village, a short walk from Camber Sands beach. Camber Sands is known for seven miles of sand and the only sand dunes in East Sussex, and for some of the best kitesurfing in the UK. The village shop and The Owl pub are on foot too. Beyond the village the flat land of Romney Marsh stretches east towards Dungeness.
- Rye
- 4 miles, about ten minutes by car or 15 to 20 minutes on the 102 bus. The historic medieval town of Rye has cobbled streets, independent shops, inns and the weekly markets.
- Rye Harbour Nature Reserve
- 5 miles. Flat paths, bird hides, the Discovery Centre, and the walk to Camber Castle, Henry VIII’s fort on the levels.
- Winchelsea and Winchelsea Beach
- 7 miles. England’s smallest town, its medieval gates and cellars, and a quieter shingle beach below.
- Pett Level beach
- About 20 minutes. Rock pools and a sunken forest at low tide, below the cliffs of Hastings Country Park.
- Dungeness
- 9 miles. The shingle headland, two lighthouses, Dungeness National Nature Reserve and the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch light railway.
- Greatstone beach
- A wide sandy beach on the Kent side, used by the kite schools when the wind does not suit Camber.
Parking in Camber Sands
On a summer weekend the council car parks at Camber charge up to £30 a day and fill by mid-morning. Staying at the cottage, you park once in the garage or the spaces at the front and rear, then walk to the beach for the rest of the week. Self catering in Camber: food shopping and eating out
The village store covers beach-day basics. For a bigger shop there is Jempson’s in Rye and its larger store at Peasmarsh, plus Rye’s Thursday market on Rope Walk and the Wednesday farmers’ market on Strand Quay. For nights off from cooking, The Owl is a walk away, Harry’s at The Gallivant is across from the dunes, and Rye has the Mermaid Inn and Webbe’s at the Fish Café.
